We look forward to continuing that work as the prime contractor for the JSC Engineering, Technology, and Science (JETS) contract along with our eleven teammate companies to provide engineering, scientific and technical contract services at NASA's Johnson Space Center (Houston, TX). JETS provides products and technical services related to human operations in space through development and integration of a broad spectrum of engineering requirements. This includes human spacecraft flight and flight development products, human exploration mission planning for NASA, institution support services, and new technology development. Our long-term client relationship with NASA has led to a need for a Systems/Test Engineer with Jacobs.
The Systems/Test Engineer will:
Perform engineering functions for the design, development, procurement, manufacturing, testing, and certification of components or systems intended for use in the next generation advanced space suit system.
Develop essential documentation for the system including system requirements, assembly procedures, test plans, detailed test procedures, and any additional operations-related products.
Plan and execute hardware troubleshooting to investigate mechanical and electrical failures within flight hardware, development test articles, or test support hardware.
Select and apply engineering techniques and procedures to analyze and evaluate specific problems, data, or other features of the work which are broad in scope and complexity.
Review and evaluate the quantity, quality, and overall adequacy of results.
Coordinate test activities and requirements with various NASA test facilities while working safely in accordance with all JETS and NASA safety requirements.
Perform other duties as required.

BS degree in engineering from an accredited engineering school and five (5) to thirteen (13) years of related engineering experience, or an MS degree from an accredited engineering school and four (4) years to eleven (11) years of related experience, or Ph.D. from an accredited engineering school and zero (0) to eight (8) years of direct engineering experience.
Experience with Pro-E or similar CAD software.
Demonstrated ability to accomplish work independently.
Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Must be able to organize and prioritize tasks in order to meet deadlines and schedules.
Project management experience.
Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures in the field, such as mechanical and electrical system design, engineering drawings and sketches, material selection, environmental testing, and MS Office and MS Project software.
Mechanical, Aerospace, Industrial, Electrical or Biomedical Engineering degree.
Knowledge of the advanced space suit or Extravehicular Mobility Unit (EMU) requirements, design, and verification.
Experience with human-in-the-loop testing.
Experience with Life Support hardware.
Experience with flight hardware.
Familiarity with JSC organizations, processes, and procedures.
Familiarity with the Engineering Life Cycle.

Generally an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.
Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time). May require lifting and carrying up to 10 lbs (5% of time).
