Our long-term client relationship with NASA has led to a need for a SharePoint Architecture and Design Lead on the Mission and Program Integration (MAPI) contract at Johnson Space Center (Houston, TX).

MAPI provides program support related to strategic and tactical planning, engineering analysis, manifest development and hardware certification, safety and mission assurance, risk management, information technology, payload integration, program science and research. This includes support of mission and program integration and necessary infrastructure operations functions for the International Space Station (ISS). MAPI has the potential of supporting other NASA programs or projects via task orders.

The SharePoint Architecture and Design Lead will:

  • Be part of an Information Technology (IT) organization which designs, implements and sustains software solutions supporting NASA, and the nation’s exploration of space.

  • Collaborate with system administration and development teams to implement comprehensive SharePoint solutions for the NASA International Space Station (ISS) Program.

  • Architect an entire environment including server and network layout, managing services, and proper governance implementation.

  • Map business requirements to the SharePoint environment.

  • Recommend technology strategies as needed.

  • Assist with project planning.

  • Perform other duties as required.

Required Education/Experience/Skills:

  • BA or BS in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or related technical discipline from an accredited university and five (5) years of progressive, relevant experience.

  • Demonstration of best practice approaches in defining strategies for SharePoint 2013/2016 Out of the Box and Customization, plus other required tasks such as version upgrades and migration.

  • Demonstration of SharePoint guidance development and enforcement.

  • Installing, configuring and managing medium to large SharePoint server farms with a variety of services.

  • Installing, configuring, and maintaining Microsoft software add-ins, third-party tools, and COTS development tools.

  • SharePoint building blocks including IIS, ASP.NET, Virtual Directories, and AD.

  • SharePoint Server 2013/2016 architecture, including but not limited to: farm/web architecture, App (Add-In) Model, Sites, Lists/Libraries, Web Parts (List Views, CQWP, DFWP, Search Web Parts, etc.), Content Types, Columns, MMS, Content Hub, Search, User Profile, My Site, Publishing Infrastructure, and Workflows.

  • Application Development processes and technologies used to deliver SharePoint solutions – C#, ASP.NET, SQL Server, web parts, workflows, BCS, BI; JSON, SharePoint Master Pages, Page Layouts, and JQuery controls development, HTML5 and CSS3.

  • SharePoint advanced features such as Business Intelligence, and SharePoint licensing required to use these features.

  • Configuring SharePoint to implement enterprise security policies.

  • Using Central Administration and STSADM, and Windows PowerShell to administer SharePoint applications, services, permissions, and features.

  • Planning, configuring and managing services including enterprise search, MySites, Excel Services, Project Server, etc.

  • Capacity planning and performance monitoring.

  • Providing Tier 2 technical support.

  • Facilitating meetings with both business and technical stakeholders for envisioning and information gathering sessions.

  • Working with project managers and project teams.

  • Mentoring of support staff on best practices and guidance.

  • Creating standard operating procedures (SOPs) documentation for system administration tasks.


  • Experience with Windows Server and Linux administration.

  • Experience with Internet Information Server (IIS) and the basic operation of websites, application pools, IIS administration, ports, SSL Certificates in Windows Server 2008 R2/2012, IBM WebSphere environments.

  • Experience using STSADM and PowerShell scripting for automation of administration tasks and deployment of solutions.

  • Familiarity with forms development, custom web part and application development for SharePoint, data modeling and integration, web services and XM, JavaScript.

  • Working knowledge of SQL Server 2008/2012 - Basic operation, tuning, backup and recovery, and maintenance planning.

  • Experience with Sharegate and Nintex a plus.

  • General knowledge of networking – IP, DNS, Load Balancing as well as the concepts of Availability, Scalability, and Maintainability and also understand firewalls, encryption and security zones.

  • SharePoint Event Log troubleshooting, search administration and troubleshooting, concepts of a farm and the planning and implementation of Service Packs and Cumulative Updates.

  • Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills. Must be able to communicate effectively articulate knowledge of SharePoint to both technical and functional stakeholder teams.
