SUMMARY: Assistant Manager in a fast food establishment including overseeing the day-to-day store operations of a small franchisee by performing and carrying out the following essential duties and responsibilities personally and/or through subordinate supervisors and/or employees. ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, the following essential duties and responsibilities are required to be carried out effectively and efficiently. Opens establishment and prepares the store for daily operations including assigning cashiers to their registers with starting change funds, and preparing food products. Assists the Manager in supervising, directing, and coordinating work schedule for up to 15 employees; maintains shifts while managing overtime to reduce costs; approves, authorizes, and schedules earned vacation requests for time off; reschedules work hours as necessary; fills in and performs subordinate s duties during unexpected employee absences or shortages. Conducts employee interviews; hires employees; maintains employee files with hire information including federal and state employment forms; performs and documents evaluations; performs employee counseling; resolves employee disputes; takes disciplinary action including terminating employees; documents progressive disciplinary action to reduce costs of unemployment claims filed against employer. Trains and develops crew members in their duties and assignments and ensures that their responsibilities are carried out and maintained at a satisfactory or above satisfactory level. Supervises, directs, coordinates, and participates by assisting in preparation, cooking, and packaging of food served in the establishment. Greets customers and assists crew in taking customer orders by phone, walk-in, or drive-thru window; prepares orders for dine-in, take-out, or drive-thru window; enters orders in cash register and collects money from restaurant sales. Monitors cashiers to ensure sales are recorded properly and change is issued correctly; provides change to cashiers as needed; maintains a minimum level of cash in each register; records, collects, and transfers excess cash from register sales to the store s safe. Reviews financial transactions; authorizes, prepares, records, and documents management overrides, voided transactions, over rings, and customer refunds. Updates all menus for any product and/or price changes; programs registers; updates and posts indoor and outdoor signs advertising food products. Enforces company policies and procedures; assesses and evaluates employee performance; praises employees performance; makes recommendations to directors of operations for rewarding employees; performs and takes progressive disciplinary action for violations of company policies and procedures. Ensures the day-to-day operations are running effectively and efficiently; assesses problems that affect the store s operations and develops and/or implements solutions; communicates issues and concerns to directors of operations in a timely manner to minimize the potential increase in costs such as equipment breakdown.
